Tips for Good Oral Health and Hygiene 11

1. Brush Everyday

You should brush your teeth at least twice a day if you want to reduce the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Brushing your teeth after every meal and before going to bed is one way of removing plaque and ensuring your teeth are always clean round the clock.

Brush your tooth in small circular motions and ensure every tooth is clean before you floss. It takes between 2-3 minutes to brush your teeth and remove all the food debris stuck on your teeth. When brushing your teeth, you should avoid sawing in fourth motions or brushing too hard because you can damage your enamel or cause gum erosion. Change your toothbrush at least every three months and avoid those with sharp bristles.

2. Floss with clean water

Flossing with clean water at least once a day is another way of keeping your mouth and teeth clean always. There are parts in your mouth that the toothbrush cannot reach, and when you floss, you remove all the food particles stuck there. Push the floss to the gumline in an up and down motion to remove the plaque in your teeth. You can get some quality mouthwash to use whenever you floss your teeth.

3. Use fluoride treatment

When you go shopping for oral supplies, you should not forget fluoride toothpaste and mouth wash. Fluoride helps to protect your teeth’ enamel from harmful bacteria. You can use fluoride-based toothpaste and mouthwash every day if you want to utilize fluoride. Talk to your dentist about fluoride treatment if you suspect enamel erosion. Extra dental care can protect your teeth if eating sweets, biscuits, and taking coffee is hard giving up.

4. Avoid foods rich in sugar

Foods with high sugar content are dangerous for your teeth. If you are fond of eating sweets, chocolate, biscuits, and other sugary foods, you should try to avoid too much of it. Eating foods with harmful carbohydrates and sugar can harm your teeth. For instance, biscuits and sweets can cause tooth decay.

5. Visit your dentist regularly

One way of protecting your teeth is by visiting your dentists regularly. Proper oral health care protects against enamel erosion. However, the build-up of plaque in the teeth surface can cause other issues that only your dentist can identify and offer solutions to. Your dentist can recommend some treatment to remove hardened plaque that brushing alone cannot.
