What Does the Bible Say About Beauty?

The Bible has much to say about what makes matters beautiful in God’s sight. It covers all areas of beauty as defined in Webster’s dictionary thus: “1. That excellent or aggregate of features in a issue which gives pride to the senses or pleasurably exalts the thoughts or spirit; bodily, moral, or non secular loveliness. 2. A lovely individual or thing, esp. A lovely girl. 3. A precise grace, ornament, or excellence; anything beautiful; as the beauties of nature.” We would do top for ourselves and others to look the matters which can be beautiful in God’s sight.

It is exciting to note that the word “beauty” isn’t always observed in the New Testament and that “beautiful” is found best 4 instances in it. “Beautiful” is observed 19 instances and “splendor” is found forty-nine instances within the Old Testament. ““Beauties” is discovered as soon as and “enhance” is observed three instances in the Old Testament.

The Bible does discuss with several ladies as being beautiful. It warns guys no longer to permit the beauty of a woman to steer them into adulterous activities. The real splendor of a girl is not external, however rather it is an inner beauty that shines out of her lovely spirit of love and kindness. This form of a girl would in no way do anything to seduce a man to commit adultery or fornication with her. She is advocated to stay a lifestyles of devotion to God and His approaches. Such a woman will no longer dress in this kind of way as to be referred to as being “horny.” She will now not accessory elements of her body to call attention to herself. See 1 Peter 3 for coaching on how this is to be executed in a family setting.

The Bible tells us approximately the “beauty of holiness.” See 1 chronicles sixteen:8-36. This is the way we’re to “worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” See 2 Chronicles 20:1-29 to see how the Israelites received over their enemies when they praised “the splendor of holiness.” Psalm 29:2 tells us to “Give to the LORD the dignity because of His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.” Psalm ninety-six offers us the purpose we need to “worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness:” and “fear earlier than Him, all of the earth.” The most lovely component that may appear to someone is to “worship God in spirit and in truth.” 2 Corinthians 7:1 tells us what to do to best “holiness.”

In Ecclesiastes 3:11 we’re told that God “has made everything stunning in its time.” Timing has tons to do with a lovely life of holy dwelling. Most of you’ve got probably by no means heard of this before. In this chapter, we discover 14 contrasting activities which are “beautiful in its time.” If the timing is incorrect, the action is very unfavorable to every body involved. The beauty is changed into ashes.

Only God can make an unsightly thing beautiful. He can take someone that is misplaced and undone and make that man or woman into a vessel of honor. How He does that is past our natural ability. Just because a person is ugly-spirited now, does not imply there’s no wish of ever being modified into some thing beautiful. The Bible and records attest to this. The memories of God’s redeeming love and grace are all round us.

In the Song of Solomon 7:1a we examine, “How lovely are your toes with footwear, O prince’s daughter!” On the other hand, Isaiah fifty-two:7 and Romans 10:15b tells us “How beautiful are the ft of them that pontificate the gospel of peace, and produce happy tidings of properly matters!” God is extra inquisitive about our ft being “shod with the practice of the gospel of peace” in preference to our lovely shoes. The man appears on the outward appearance and God appears on the coronary heart. See Ephesians 6:10-19 to look how the complete armor of the Lord makes for a lovely sight in God’s eyes.

In precis, the matters of God’s advent, whether physical or spiritual are beautiful. The matters that dishonor God are unpleasant. God is inside the business of turning unpleasant things into beautiful ones. See Isaiah 61 to peer what God’s intentions are for our lives.
